Information you give us
When you create an account we collect your first name, family name, email address, phone number and password. Your profile can also hold a photo, a short bio, a main address and a map pin, all of which are optional and can be changed or cleared at any time from Edit Profile.
Information in your listings
When you publish a property we collect what you enter about it: title, description, price, property type, area, room counts, amenities, address, the map location you choose, and the photos you upload. Listing content is intended to be public once approved, so do not include private information you do not want other users to see.
Messages you send us
If you use the Contact Us form we collect your name, email, subject and message so we can reply. These messages go to our support mailbox and are not published.
Sign-in information
You can sign in with an email and password, with a one-time code sent to your phone by SMS, or with Google. When you sign in with Google we receive the account identifier and email address that Google shares with us; we never receive your Google password. Your password with us is stored only as a bcrypt hash and cannot be read back, by us or anyone else.
Photos and device permissions
The app asks for access to your photo library only when you choose to add pictures to a listing or set a profile photo, and it only reads the images you actually select. The app does not track your device location — the map pin on a listing or profile is the point you place yourself, not a reading taken from your device.
Technical information
Our servers record standard technical data when the app talks to them, such as the request made, the time, and the network address it came from. We use this to keep the service running, to diagnose faults, and to detect abuse such as spam or automated scraping. We also count how many times a listing has been viewed.
How we use your information
We use it to create and secure your account, to publish and review your listings, to put buyers and sellers in touch through our team, to answer your questions, to prevent fraud and abuse, and to meet our legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
What other users can see
Your approved listings are public, and alongside them we show your display name, profile photo and bio, plus any rating or reviews you have received. Your email address, phone number, exact home address and password are never shown to other users. Buyer and seller contact is deliberately routed through our team rather than exchanged directly.
Who we share information with
We share information with the service providers that make the app work: our hosting provider, Google (for Google Sign-In and for the maps shown in the app), and the SMS provider that delivers verification codes. Each receives only what it needs for that purpose. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect the rights and safety of our users.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. Listings and the messages you send us are kept while they remain relevant to the service and to our records. Technical logs are kept for a limited period and then discarded.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen. When you do, we deactivate it, remove your live listings from the marketplace, delete your profile photo, and erase the personal details held on it, including your name, email address, phone number, bio and address. Records that other people's history depends on, such as a past enquiry, keep an anonymous reference that can no longer be traced back to you. This cannot be undone, and the email address and phone number become free to use for a new account.
How we protect your information
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Your sign-in token is held in the iOS Keychain or the Android Keystore rather than ordinary app storage, so it stays encrypted at rest on your device. Passwords are stored only as hashes. Changing your password or deleting your account immediately revokes sessions on your other devices.
Children
Ashum is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
Your choices
You can review and correct your details at any time from Edit Profile, change your password from the Profile screen, and delete your account and its personal data outright. For any other request about your information, write to us at [email protected].
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, tell you in the app. Continuing to use Ashum after a change means you accept the updated policy.
